A potentially rich vein has been opened up by an early reader: Government Credit Card Abuse.
OK, nothing particularly salacious about this mis-use of an official credit card. I'm sure it happens every day. And I get that people generally do really stupid things when they are given access to other people's money. But what makes these people think that such blatantly inappropriate behavior isn't going to get them caught? Do you swipe the card at VS and hope that maybe, just maybe, someone won't be paying attention this month? Or do you assume that no one is really paying attention at all?
So, how about it, what's your best story involving government credit cards?
Less to the point, but why does this stolen money always seem to be spent on luxury items, in the case of women, lingerie or jewelry or shoes or purses?
I'm thinking of the haul, below, found in the home of Jayrece Turnbull, niece of Harriette Walters, the "mastermind" of the D.C. Property Tax Scam that managed to bilk the taxpayers of almost $50 million over years.
